Responding to Your Suggestions for Standards Up-Leveling 

さらなる向上を目指したメンバーからの提案

In the Standards Review Project, one of the most consistent areas of concern raised by our membership and the broader yoga community was around qualifications for those leading teacher trainings and how best to ensure that the next generation of yoga teachers is being trained and taught by those more experienced teachers with the breadth and depth of knowledge, skills, and experience, regardless of lineage, style, or methodology of the school. Therefore, in June, we announced that all Lead Trainers would need to hold the highest level of Yoga Alliance teacher credential, the E-RYT 500, by February 2022. 

たくさんのスタンダードのレビュープロジェクトを通じ、良質なヨガコミュニティを創造するにあたり、リード・ティーチャーの教育や指導をより質の良いものにシフトしていくこと、そしてそれを次世代のヨガティーチャーへ継承することが必須であるという声を多くいただきました。 そのため、6月に、全てのリードトレーナーは、ヨガティーチャー区レジデンシャルである最高レベルの「E-RYT500」を2022年2月までに取得するべきことをアナウンスしました。 

While we have heard strong support for this change since the June announcement, we also have heard concerns about access, time, and cost that might hinder some long-time Lead Trainers from being able to meet this requirement, thus disrupting their livelihoods as yoga teaching professionals. As such, as of today, we are making the updates that follow. 

この6月の方針変更により、現在のリードトレーナーたちによる時間制限やアクセス、コストなどの諸々の懸念が生じますが、ヨガ・プロフェッショナルズにとって混乱の内容、このようなアップデートを作りました。 Lead Trainer Requirements リードトレーナーとしての必要項目 

Many Lead Trainers have been successfully leading RYS 200 programs for years, holding the E-RYT 200 credential which, up until now, had been our minimum requirement for RYS 200 Lead Trainers. While we believe the updated requirement is the appropriate step to take, many of you have shared that our original timeline does not allow you the necessary space in your schedules or finances to meet it without substantial disruption to your livelihood as a Lead Trainer and RYT. Others of you have expressed concern about a lack of RYS 300 programs in your geographical areas. Finally, some RYSs have shared that the elimination of non-contact hours, which is widely supported, may be best fulfilled by a number of Lead Trainers greater than the existing maximum of two. 

多くのリードトレーナーは、E-RYT200のクレジデンシャルを持ってRYS200のプログラムに参加いただいておりますが、多くの方が、更新された内容に準ずるためには、現行の所要時間ではスケジュールや資金面で不足するものだと見ております。RYS300プログラムを通し本プログラムの不足分などを指摘された方も同様です。結果的に、一部のRYSでは、ノンーコンタクトアワーを削除し、2名以上の複数のリードトレーナーによる指導を設けることとなりました。 

The changes to our credentials were intended to clarify them as an indicator of high quality, safe, accessible, and equitable yoga teaching that are worthy of your ongoing investment – not to punish anyone for factors beyond their control. Therefore, we are announcing the following updates/support programs for those working to meet these new LT requirements: 

この変更は、より質の向上したクレジデンシャルであり、より安全なヨガ指導になることを目指しています。そのため、全てのリードトレーナーの必要項目に見合うために、プログラムの更新内容やサポート内容を以下に記しております。 “Intermediary Status” Provision 中間ステータスの支給 

Beginning in August 2020 and running through July 2021, E-RYT 200 Lead Trainers (LT) who will have led RYS programs for three or more years at the time of application can apply for “Intermediary Status” Provision. This provision allows for those who apply and qualify to continue to use their existing E-RYT 200 credentials in concert with their significant LT experience to remain as Lead Teachers without the need to upgrade to an E-RYT 500 credential. 

2020年8月に始動し、2021年7月にかけて、3年後の申請時期までにRYSプログラムを実行しているE-RYT200リードトレーナーは、「中間ステータス」を申請することができます。このステータス取得により、既存のE-RYT200のクレジデンシャルを適応し、継続してE-RYT200を使用することができ、E-RYT500へのアップグレードは必要ありません。 

This will not award anyone E-RYT 500 status, nor do we discourage anyone from pursuing an E-RYT 500 credential. However, it will allow for existing, highly qualified Lead Trainers to continue their work with minimal disruption. 

これは、E-RYT500を代替するものではありませんが、既存の高クオリティなリードトレーナーが継続してヨガティーチングに集中できる環境を作るためにこの制度を設けております。 

Applications will be accepted beginning in August of 2020 and will remain open for one year. More information on application requirements – such as the need for a yoga resume, documentation of three or more years as a Lead Trainer, three references, and more – can be found here. 

申請は、2020年8月から受付開始となり、1年の受付期間となっております。さらなる情報や申請に必要な要件などは（ヨガレジュメ、書類など）ここから確認してください。

Number of Lead Trainers(リードトレーナーの人数) 

We also heard many RYS 200s’ concerns regarding the elimination of non-contact hours and how this requirement that all 200 hours must now be classroom hours might overburden a team of only one or two Lead Trainers. Therefore, we are increasing the number of Lead Trainers that an RYS 200 may employ under the new RYS 200 credential, moving from the current maximum of two to the new maximum of five Lead Trainers. 

YRS200の懸念として、ノンコンタクトアワーを消去してほしいという声を多くいただきました。そしてその時間を、クラスルームに補填したりした場合、リードトレーナーへの負荷がさらにかかるのではないかという懸念が生じました。そのため、RYS200クレジデンシャルを持つリードトレーナーの人数を増やす方針にし、現行の最大2名を、最大5名までリードトレーナーを増やせることとしました。 

No action is needed from RYSs at this time. These updated requirements will be reflected in the application process for all RYSs after they go into effect in February 2020. More information may be found here.

Next Steps 

We still are on track to share, at the end of this month, information about two additional new initiatives in response to your feedback: a) a program for Lead Trainers who want to obtain an E-RYT 500 but either do not have access to an RYS 300 or who would be adversely affected by the time and financial constraints, and b) a fair and equitable pathway to qualify as Lead Trainers for long-serving teachers who did not attend an RYS 200 or RYS 500 but who otherwise have the necessary tenure and mastery of knowledge, skills, and experience.

Upcoming Facebook Lives 

 Many of the questions we received after the June announcement covered similar topics so, in an effort to make finding these answers easier for our members, we created a virtual “office hours” series via Facebook Live. We have held three Facebook Lives thus far, with representatives from our Membership and Standards teams discussing the changes to the standards underlying the RYS 200 credential. The final two sessions are: The Enhanced Lead Trainer Requirements (November 7, 3pm ET) and What Comes Next? The RYS 300 and RYS 500 Timeline (November 21, 6pm ET).
